On Wednesday, October 18, 2000, members of the Producers' Circle level and higher joined Marvin Hamlisch, the National Symphony Orchestra Principal Pops Conductor, for a colorful evening of cocktails and dinner in the North Gallery of the Roof Terrace.
Marvin Hamlisch's life in music is notable for its great versatility as well as substance. Best known as a composer, Mr. Hamlisch has written major works for film, stage, recording and the concert hall. Following the dinner, Mr. Hamlisch engaged in an informal discussion while entertaining crowds with his humor and virtuoso piano playing. Both warm and jonquil, Mr. Hamlisch provided just the right touch for an evening that Circles members will not soon forget.
