Traffic Advisory – Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation
Beginning Feb. 13 and continuing for approximately five weeks, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is rehabilitating the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge over Rock Creek and the Rock Creek Parkway. In order to accommodate the construction activities involved with repairing the structural features of the bridge, some work is being performed underneath the bridge and from the Rock Creek Parkway.
To conduct this work safely, temporary single lane closures will be set up on northbound and southbound Rock Creek Parkway in the section between Whitehurst Freeway and 500 feet past M Street. All daytime closures will take place on weekdays 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and nighttime closure will occur on weeknights from 9 p.m.–5 a.m. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times during these periods.
The weeknight closures may delay patrons exiting the Kennedy Center garage and heading northbound on Rock Creek Parkway.
Traffic Advisory: Beach Drive Rehabilitation
On or about Thu., Sep. 22, 2016, the National Park Service will begin a project to rehabilitate Beach Drive in D.C. that is projected to last about 3 years. The first phase of work will close a large section of Beach Drive closest to the Kennedy Center for approximately six to eight months. The Park Service will have construction updates on the project's website. Commuters are also urged to sign up for updates through Nixle, a free tool that allows information to be sent through text, email, social media and the Nixle mobile app. To receive alerts, text BEACHDRIVE to 888777. You can also check the project's prerecorded phone line, (202) 895-6232, for information on road closures.
