  Roberto Minczuk leads the Orchestra in a diverse collection of works by Tchaikovsky. The composer's First Piano Concerto features young piano sensation Joyce Yang.   

• Leonard Slatkin, conductor/Gil Shaham, violin, performs Brahms

  Sep 20 - 22, 2006
  Gil Shaham performs Brahms's Violin Concerto in a program that also includes Walton's Partita for Orchestra and Copland's Appalachian Spring.

• Season Opening Ball Concert: Leonard Slatkin, conductor/Joshua Bell, violin, in an all-Tchaikovsky program

  Violinist Joshua Bell, known for "playing that's direct, honest, and a joy to hear" (The Boston Herald), joins Leonard Slatkin and gifted vocalists for an all-Tchaikovsky program that officially opens the NSO's new season.

• Ilan Volkov, conductor/Yefim Bronfman, piano, performs Rachmaninoff

  Sep 28 - 30, 2006
  Yefim Bronfman performs Rachmaninoff's Fourth Piano Concerto. Beethoven's Fourth Symphony and a U.S. premiere complete this program conducted by Ilan Volkov in his NSO debut.

• Leonard Slatkin, conductor/Sir James Galway, flute, performs Mozart

  Oct 5 - 7, 2006
  Sir James Galway performs Mozart's Second Flute Concerto and a world premiere flute concerto. The program also includes works by Rossini and R. Strauss.

• Leonard Slatkin, conductor/Lynn Harrell, cello, performs Dvorak

  Oct 19 - 21, 2006
  Lynn Harrell performs Dvorák's Cello Concerto in a program that also includes Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé and a world premiere.

• The Kennedy Center Chamber Players perform Mozart, Ravel & Bruckner

  Comprised of principals of the National Symphony Orchestra, the Players perform works by Mozart, Ravel, and Bruckner.

• Pinchas Zukerman, conductor and violin/Amanda Forsyth, cello, perform Mozart and Bruch

  Nov 2 - 4, 2006
  Pinchas Zukerman conducts a program featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 2,  himself as soloist in Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, and Bruch's Kol nidrei performed by his wife, cellist Amanda Forsyth.
