Washington Performing Arts 50th Anniversary Season
Stars Series
Daniil Trifonov, piano

The heir apparent to the Russian piano dynasty forged by the likes of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Evgeny Kissin, Daniil Trifonov catapulted onto the classical music scene when he won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition, the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, and numerous prizes at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in the span of only two years. He also thrilled Washington Performing Arts audiences at the Kennedy Center last season, appearing with the Montreal Symphony, and returns in April for his first solo recital since his Hayes Series debut in 2013. Simply put, he's "a knockout" (The Washington Post).

"Trifonov seared his way onto the scene a few years ago and has retained every bit of the spark that brought him to the ‘it' spot in the hot-young-soloist pantheon." - The Washington Post
