Classical tabla virtuoso and international phenomenon Zakir Hussain performs his new concerto Peshkar with the NSO conducted by Cristian Macelaru. The program also features santoor player Rahul Sharma, who joins Hussain for a unique world music duet.

The evening also includes a wide and worldly array of pre- and post-show entertainment. Arrive early for a 6 p.m. Millennium Stage raga concert with Brooklyn Raga Massive featuring pure classical ragas from India and contemporary adaptations in America. While standing on the shoulders of giants like Ravi Shankar and John Coltrane, BRM will present original visions of raga music, reflective of the group's experiences with communities and cultures from across the world.

Then, from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m., boundary-breaking Indian classical and jazz pianist Utsav Lal takes to the Millennium Stage, showcasing his unfailing clarity of technique and innovative raga handling alongside a musical creativity drawing from western classical, jazz and North Indian classical music.

Following the concert, the evening morphs into a dance party from 10:15 to 11:15 p.m. featuring a set by DJ Rekha accompanied by a live video mix by Robin Bell. Rooted in hip-hop and dub, DJ Rekha's sets range from Brazilian Baile Funk to Balkan Beats and everything in between. She pioneered merging Bhangra and Bollywood sounds with contemporary electronic dance music, and was named "Ambassador of Bhangra" by The New York Times.
