Vocalist and bassist Meshell Ndegeocello returns to the Kennedy Center with a tribute performance to singer-songwriter and civil rights activist Nina Simone (1933–2003), joined by versatile singer and guitarist Toshi Reagon. With the release of her 2012 album, Pour une Âme Souveraine: A Dedication to Nina Simone (Naïve Label), Ndegeocello brings her songs to life with deep emotionality and swift modern twists, honoring and preserving Simone's legacy. This performance highlights President Kennedy's value of courage, characterized through Nina Simone's fervor for political activism and advocacy.

The Crossroads Club features expansive standing room only for moving to the music, drinks available for purchase, and high-top tables.
