Discovery Artist in the KC Jazz Club: Marquis Hill Blacktet
The winner of the 2014 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Trumpet Competition, Marquis Hill makes his KC Jazz Club debut as a leader with his group Blacktet.
Trumpeter Marquis Hill may already be a familiar face to Kennedy Center jazz regulars. The winner of the 2014 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Trumpet Competition, this Chicago native is a 2009 graduate of the Kennedy Center's Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program, and was a performer with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra's December 2014 Terrace Theater and Kennedy Center Honors Gala performances. The Concord Music Group artist makes his KC Jazz Club debut as a leader with his group Blacktet.
