Saroha



Biography

Saroha is a non-profit organization for preserving, and promoting the culture of Indonesia, with focus on tradition and cultural values of North Sumatera. Their repertoires include visual and performing arts activities in the form of festivals, concerts, traditional ritual processions, seminars, exhibitions, and education. Saroha has performed Glance of Indonesian Culture at The George Marshall Auditorium, Department of State in 2016; Performing Indonesia Festival, at the Corcoran Gallery in 2016; Passport D.C.2017 at the Indonesian Embassy; North Sumatra Cultural Show at the Indonesian Ambassador’s Residence.

Upcoming Performances

Video 9/30/2017: The Groove of Sumatra

House of Angklung, through the bamboo rattle instruments from West Java, will take the audience on a melodic and rhythmic journey to the rich culture of Sumatra (one of the main islands in Indonesia) and will include collaborative performance with Saroha and Rumah Gadang USA. At the end of the performance, the audience will have an interactive experience playing the angklung themselves.
